ABOUT
ME
My name is Jay, I'm from a small town outside of San Antonio, TX called Helotes. I work from and perform in Austin, TX. I have a wide skillset and versatile musical aptitude including composition, music production, piano performance, recording, live sound, and music notation. When I'm not writing or performing, you may find me in the wild rapping in ciphers or playing ocarinas, jaw harps, or the musical saw.
SOLO ACT
I'm a cross of a singer-songwriter and
rapper-keyboardist. On stage, I play keyboard and sing, play backing beats and rap, play solo piano music, and even take melodica solos. I describe my sound as diverse yet vibey with jazz, hip hop, and classical influence. My original music ranges from RnB / Hip Hop to Pop-Soul music.
COLLABORATION
I've been playing keyboard with other musicians since day 1. I can learn any song in any style with enough of a heads up. I'd like to produce beats for other artists in the future, but don't do that currently. I am performing with my band Royal Regiment in Austin.
CLASSICAL TRAINING
I compose contemporary classical music. I've written for concert band (48 players), string orchestra, percussion ensemble, and much more. I have experience with conducting, and I have a lot of experience with music notation and notation software. I have a passion for music theory.
HIP HOPERA
I am composing a large-scale, 3 1/2 hour hip hop opera about my life called Realize for Real Hears. It combines my passion for hip hop and classical music and is unlike anything that exists today! It's debut performance will be on my patreon soon!
SOUND ENGINEERING
I have a decade of recording, mixing, and mastering experience using Logic Pro X and am learning Ableton. I produce, mix, and master all of my own music; take a listen if you'd like to hear my work! Check out all the services I offer for a better idea of what I know how to do.

Booking for solo shows
My Equipment
I have my own full size keyboard. It comes with a quarter inch aux output. I make use of my laptop, melodica, and a midi rig as well. I have my own mic stand, microphone, wires, and PA system. My PA consists of a 4 input plus aux input mixing board and 2 passive speakers. I have a 200ah battery and power inverter if no outlet is available and I can even bring my own chair! All I need to play is something close to a 10x10 foot block of space. Access to an outlet, chair, and some kind of table would be ideal, but I can bring those too.

This is the beginning of my site
I'm currently in the process of building my brand. I plan to include my classical stuff, sheet music, more music videos, and more. Eventually I want to offer studio / recording services and those sorts of things. BUT for what I'm doing these days, this will do nicely.
